COLLECT THE ART / SUPPORT THE FILM
A note from Leo Crane, co-Director
The Masterpiece of Tamagata is an incredible story: love versus duty, a secret child, a boundless painted world. Since 2019, Ilona Suschitzky and I have tackled this labour of love, learning Japanese ink painting, experimental animation techniques, and even how to use emerging tech like AI in a creative and responsible way.
Along the way, we have had some extraordinary opportunities to share our work, from a theatrical installation in Mayfair to huge city-wide projections in Paris and an immersive room in a historic Portuguese pavilion. And now we are taking the next big step.
On 9 February 2026, we are releasing two new artworks from Tamagata’s Painted World. Available to collect as digital editions, these works invite you into the Tamagata ‘family’ and will raise much-needed funding as we work towards to film’s completion.
Preview: Four Seasons / Edition of 12 / $95
Preview: Hana / Edition of 12 / $95
How did this come about?
We have been invited to present Tamagata as a featured project on Sedition as part of their flagship “Curated by Aria” programme. Launched in 2012, Sedition is a pioneering digital art platform with an exceptional history. Artists on Sedition include Tracey Emin, Isaac Julien, Damien Hirst and Matt Collishaw, as well as international names experimenting with the future of digital media. We are thrilled to sit alongside artists such as these.
What is a digital edition?
You can think of it like a piece of film memorabilia, something whose value comes from association with the film itself. If you want to, you can treat it like a print and display it on a digital art frame; you can treat it as an asset and trade it on Sedition’s marketplace; or you can just think about it as a way to support the film and our work.
How can I support?
To collect an edition, you will need to set up a profile at seditionart.com/register with the referral code [XXX] Once you have done that, follow Leo Crane and you will be notified when the artworks go live on 9 February, around 11am GMT.
