WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A REBEL?

Whether it is to defy convention, stand up for our beliefs, survive against the odds or simply break the rules, there’s a bit of rebel in all of us. Inspired by our exhibition, Marvellous and Mischievous: Literature’s Young Rebels, this two-day masterclass develops your drawing skills in portraiture and self-portraiture.

After an introduction to visual storytelling, learn techniques of portraiture and have the chance to draw a professional life model with guidance from expert tutor, Leo Crane. Create three self-portraits that tell a story – real or imagined – of the rebellious you.

Learn how to depict yourself confidently and creatively in a narrative composition and create three works mounted as a triptych to take home.
